Natutural blessing in Malaysia made my wish ‘to draw’ come true
For me, there are three conditions needed before I start to draw. There is the time to draw, knowing what I want to draw and the feeling that I want to draw. When all three conditions came together, I painted again around 2014, when my children have grown up, and then I have enough time with room in my mind. I will find a subject that I want to draw when I go out for a morning walk in my neighborhood or I visit the backyard of my in-laws. It is like a treasure hunt. Thanks to my big-hearted Malaysian family and friends who come from diverse cultural backgrounds with their support, I am able to draw freely. There are many surprises under the powerful tropical sun here. I am surprised to encounter unique plants and animals. Insects come when she is drawing flowers, squirrels, and little birds which gather on the trees for fruits. But I know the sad fact while I am observing and interacting with the nature of Malaysia. Wild animals are forced from their home into rainforests where nature is lost and the environment is degraded in the process of development. Precious things are lost rapidly. That is why I want to leave my paintings on canvas my feelings with respect and gratitude for nature in Malaysia.
